Reviews

Nashville Scene (Nashville, TN)
Urban Twang, a Chicago-based roots band, features the unusual vocal of Trish Clausen, who manages to come across as smart, sultry and introspective on the band’s self-produced album, “Go Call Delia”. Choosing a rough moodiness over the usual bar-chord hoedowns of most ’90s alternative country-rockers, the band stakes its own ground with a wise, textured and accessible sound.

New City (Chicago, IL)
The members put on a spellbinding show, drawing me into their bare-boned, non-insurgent country style. Lead singer Trish Clausen has a voice made for the country; soft but pronounced, from the heart and smooth but not nasal. Her live presence, her subtle enthusiasm and the way her voice carries straight from the open field to the cement gardens, all make Urban Twang among my favorite Chicago bands.

Music in Film

The Urban Twang song If Liquor Were a Woman can be heard in the movie “Almost Salinas“. This independent film stars John Mahoney (Frasier), Virginia Madsen (The Rainmaker and Dune), Ian Gomez (Felicity and EDtv), Lindsey Crouse (The Insider), Linda Emond (One Life to Live), and Ray Wise (RoboCop and Twin Peaks). Almost Salinas is written and directed by Terry Green.
